New Polls Show Where Anti-Trump Democrats Stand Ahead of Midterm Elections — Time to Panic

If the midterm elections were held today, at least five Democratic senators would lose their jobs, according to a new survey.

New polls from SurveyMonkey published Thursday by Axios reveal Sens. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), Jon Tester (D-Mont.), Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.), and Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) would all lose to GOP challengers if the November elections were held this week.

Each of those lawmakers — with the exception of McCaskill, who is polled against Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley (R) — were polled against a generic Republican opponent.

President Donald Trump won each of those states in the 2016 election and is currently polling above 50 percent in all five states.

Back in the Senate, the two least vulnerable candidates are Sens. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) and Bob Casey (D-Pa.), both of whom enjoy at least a nine-point margin between them and their named challengers.

In order to regain control of the 100-member chamber, the Democrats would have to protect every seat they currently hold and pick up two additional spots.
